What an October!

This month was exceptionally busy for our entire family. Between out of town guests and illness hitting the family, it seems like we have barely had a moment to spare. I am looking forward to things slowing down, but I have a feeling that won't come until after the holiday season! Anyways, since I haven't been blogging much lately I thought I would post some highlights of what we have been up to.

Visit with Nana
We all had a wonderful visit with my mom. It is always wonderful getting to spend time with her! We can't wait to see the whole Wiedenmann family at Christmas!

Visit with Grandma and Grandpa Pohlmeier
Grandma and Grandpa Pohlmeier came for a visit at the beginning of October hoping to come watch one of Isaac's soccer games. Unfortunately, the rain caused the game to be canceled. That didn't stop the kids from having a great visit though! They always love being spoiled with love and attention!

Visit with Uncle Erik

Uncle Erik stayed with us for a couple days while he had some continuing education in Little Rock. During his visit Isaac informed us what a priest really does all day!

Visit with Clare's Godmother
We were so blessed to be able to host Katie and Sean Keys at our home for four days! Clare had a great time with her Godmother and enjoyed all of the extra loving and cuddling. We enjoyed some beautiful weather, and were able to show them the highlights of Little Rock. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful role-model of Catholic womanhood for Clare to follow. We love you Katie and had a wonderful visit with you and Sean!

And finally at the end of the day this is what it looks like at the Pohlmeier house...

Happy Feast Day, Isaac!

Today we celebrate the feast day of the North American Martyrs. Our son is named after Saint Isaac Jogues who was one of the martyrs. We love telling him the story of Isaac Jogues, and how he was willing to be tortured and even die for the sake of spreading the Kingdom of God! We can only hope and pray that our son will have this same love for his faith!

Today will be full of celebrations for us including a special pizza dinner, since that is Isaac's favorite food! It might also be a good day to pray for all missionaries throughout the world!

My confidence is placed in God who does not need our help for accomplishing his designs. Our single endeavor should be to give ourselves to the work and to be faithful to him, and not to spoil his work by our shortcomings. - Saint Isaac Jogues

What Does a Priest Do?

Uncle Erik is staying with us for a couple of days while he has some continuing education in Little Rock. This morning after he left Isaac and I had the following conversation:

Isaac: Where is Erik?

Me: He went to work.

Isaac: No, mom, Erik doesn't work. Erik goes to church!

Me: Yes, Erik does go to church, but that is also where he works. A priest works at church, and he has many jobs.

Isaac: No mom! Erik doesn't work! Erik goes to church! No work, just church! (Much louder and with more emotion)

That's where I let the conversation end. There was going to be no convincing Isaac that Erik does in fact work!

St. Edward the Confessor

Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Edward the Confessor! During his reign in England Edward did many good works and earned the respect of his people. Today he the patron saint of difficult marriages and separated spouses.

This is a special feast day for our family since my husband is the principal of St. Edward school. We will be praying in a special way today for all affiliated with St. Edward Church and school. It is such a wonderful community full of many faith filled people. God Bless all who make St. Edward church and school such a great place!

Ways to Celebrate
  1. Pray for the English royalty and people
  2. Pray for all separated spouses and people in difficult marriages
  3. Pray for all government leaders

Frugal Fridays!

How would you like to be paid to search the Internet. I recently came upon the search engine Swagbucks. Basically it works the same way as Google only each time you search for something on the Internet you have the opportunity to earn swagbucks. Swagbucks are basically points that you can later redeem for prizes. There are many different prizes to choose from, but I am a fan of the gift cards. For example, for 45 swagbucks you can earn a $5 dollar gift card to Amazon. In the past two months I have already earned enough swagbucks to buy two Amazon gift cards, and I have only been using swagbucks for my normal daily Internet searching. I think this is a great way to earn some extra funds for Christmas or birthday gifts. Check it out below and start earning today!

Back to Blogging

Well, we all had a wonderful visit with Nana! It was so much fun to have her here, and she spoiled us all with fun and treats. The week flew by, and we were blessed with wonderful weather for at least part of the visit. Thankfully we were able to do everything we wanted though. Nana was able to watch one of Isaac's soccer games, and take us all on an exciting adventure to a local pumpkin patch! The kids, and well mommy too, are having "Nana withdrawal," and we are all anxiously awaiting our trip to Ohio in December. On a funny note, I think Isaac may be a little confused. You see every time a plane flies over us he points at it and announces Nana is on that plane. I guess he thinks Nana lives on a plane! Enjoy the slide show of our week with Nana!
